Day One

8:30 – 10:00 : Current Threats to mining professionals in Africa
Understand the nature of threats to yourself and your colleagues in Africa.  Learn how to break the criminal cycle and survive.

10:00 – 10:15 : Refreshment Break
10:15 – 12:15 : Pre-Planning and Preparedness
Understand and implement travel security best practices. Create bio files and conduct country risk profiles to develop actionable destination intelligence. Learn what defensive tools to carry before you leave and what to acquire once you arrive.

12:15 – 13:15 : Lunch
13:15 – 15:15 : Psychology of Survival
Techniques to heighten situation awareness, overcome normalcy bias and develop mental conditioning to survive any life-threatening encounter.

15:15 – 15:30 : Refreshment Break
15:30 – 17:00 : Practical Survival Skills and Kits
Understand the priorities of survival and make your own survival kits.  Learn survival skills to use in both urban and rural environments.

Day Two

8:30 – 10:00 : Emergency First Aid

Understand the principles of Emergency First Aid.  Use every day and specialised medical equipment to save a life after a mining accident, shooting or violent assault.  The demonstrations enable you to gain some practical experience.

10:00 – 10:15 : Refreshment Break
10:15 – 12:15 : Counter-and Anti-Surveillance Drills

Hostile surveillance by criminal gangs and security agencies is regularly used against expatriate mining professionals.  Learn professional counter-strategies to neutralise the threat of such surveillance whether psychology or technical.

12:15 – 13:15 : Lunch
13:15 – 15:15 : Kidnap Simulation and Conduct under Capture

Actively participate in a high-stress simulation and experience what happens when removed from your comfort zone.  Learn tried and tested techniques to escape from custody and make your way to a place of safety

 15:15 – 15:30 : Refreshment Break
 15:30 – 17:00 : Handling a Disaster

Natural and man-made disasters are prevalent but can be survived.  Learn immediate action drills to respond to such threats and evacuate along corridors of safety.
